Update: Android v1.5 “Cupcake” für T-Mobile G1 kommt nächste Woche

EA Android Games by you.Nun ist es also offiziell: Der Telekom-Mobilfunkableger T-Mobile aktualisiert kommende Woche das Android-Smartphone G1 auf die neueste Firmware (Google Android v1.5 ), die bisher unter dem Arbeitstitel „Cupcake“ bekannt war.

Damit erhält das T-Mobile G1 die gleichen neuen Funktionen wie das HTC Magic, das Vodafone vor kurzem für den deutschen Markt vorstellte.

G1-Kunden in Deutschland wird T-Mobile das Update „over the air“ anbieten, sprich über das  Mobilfunknetz. Nach dem Download sollte die Installation automatisch erfolgen.

Allerdings wird Nutzern des ersten Google-Phones G1 (immer wieder auch „gPhone“ genannt) angeraten, die Aktualisierung über das schnellere WLAN durchzuführen – ist schließlich ja auch billiger.

Analysten der US-Unternehmensberatung Accenture zufolge sollen in diesem Jahr in Deutschland eine Million Google-Handys (G1) verkauft werden.

T-Mobile USA is excited to offer its T-Mobile G1 customers new software updates, including Android 1.5. Starting at the end of next week, T-Mobile USA will begin rolling out Android 1.5 to T-Mobile G1 customers. The over-the-air update, which all G1 customers should receive by the end of May, will provide customers with many new feature enhancements and updates, such as:

· An on screen full QWERTY keyboard.

· Video record and playback capabilities.

· Easy uploading of photos to Picasa and videos to YouTube.
