Die Canon PowerShot G11 Digital-Kamera ist soeben von Canon bestätigt worden. Die neueste Highend-PowerShot-Kamera, die ebenso Hobbyfotografen wie Profis begeistern soll kommt im Oktober 2009 in den Handel und kostet (in den USA zumindest) 500 US-Dollar, also rund 354 Euro.
An neuen Funktionen gegenüber dem Vorgänger, der Canon Powershot G10, ist zu erwähnen, dass die G11 mit einer deutlich verbesserten Rauschunterdrückung sowie eine ausklappbarem Schwenkmonitor ausgestattet ist. Zudem neu ist der PureColor II VA LC-Display, der im Vergleich zu konventionellen Kamera-Displays einen deutlich günstigerne Betrachtungswinkel aufweist.
Entgegen anderslautender Berichte verfügt die Canon PowerShot G11 auch über einen Video-Modus für Aufnahmen in HD-Qualität (720p). Allerdings bestätigte sich nun, dass die G11 nur 10-Megapixel Auflösung hat – der Vorgänger, die G10 verfügt über einen 15-Megapixel-Chip. Canon hat sich damit höchstoffiziell aus dem immer irrer werdenden Megapixel-Rennen verabschiedet.
